[Back to Signs menu]  [Back to crafts menu]

MATERIALS NEEDED:

* 1/2 yard of Flannel Material.
* 1 large Foam Board.
* Avery Light Fabric Transfer Sheets.
* 2 light colored Felt Squares (I used white and pink).
* Glue Gun.
* Iron.
* Poster Board.
* Optional Embellishments: Gimp Braid, Small Tassel, Beads.

Cliparts from CC29: Ladybugs, CC19: Love and CC5: Spring/love.

INSTRUCTIONS:

Cut a large heart shape from the foam board. (I used a piece of newpaper and cut my heart shape out of it first to use as a pattern.)

Iron your flannel and lay in face down on a table. Lay your heart shaped foam board on it and cut around the fabric leaving a good 4" space between the edge of the heart and the cut edge of your fabric.

Cut 2" slits into the fabric from the fabrics outside edge going toward you foam heart board. Take each strip, fold in onto the back of the heart and glue in place.

Continue working all around your heart edges, smoothing the fabric as you go and pulling it taunt as you go.

Cut another heart shape out, just a little bit smaller than your foam board heart, from the poster board. Glue this onto the back of your covered foam board heart.

Now use your trim, and glue all around the edges of the heart. Attach a tassle to the heart bottom. You can use ribbon or a garland bead string as a hanger.

Now for the Felt Figures!

Open your print program and import your chosen graphics.

Follow manufacturers instructions for printing on the transfer paper.

Iron the transfer on to your felt square. Remember, a little of the felt color will 'bleed' through slightly altering your graphics light colors.

Cut out each felt character and now it ready for your little one to play with!

Add some felt numbers and turn it into a a counting game!
